AHA PALS Renewal -You need to study the American Heart Association PALS book and guidelines. **A CURRENT PALS Provider card must be submitted prior or at the time of course.
The recertification/update course is for students who have a current PALS cards only. **The 2015 AHA PALS Provider Manual is the REQUIRED textbook. EACH PARTICIPANT must have a current edition of this textbook in their possession before, during and after the course. If you arrive at the course without a current Provider Manual, you will be required to purchase a copy at that time. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS. The 2015 AHA Handbook of Emergency Cardiovascular Care is optional, although highly recommended. Medical providers who respond to pediatric cardiovascular emergencies in and out of the hospital enhance their treatment abilities through the American Heart Association’s Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) training. From basic life support to advanced interventions and from airway management to pharmacology and more, professionals hone their skills to save lives.
Participants learn: • Recognition and treatment of infants and children at risk for cardio-pulmonary arrest • The systematic approach to pediatric assessment • Effective respiratory management • Validate skills for 1- and 2-person CPR and AED skills for infant and child • Defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion • Intraosseous access and fluid bolus administration • Effective resuscitation team dynamics The course includes simulated clinical scenarios that encourage active, hands-on participation through learning stations where students practice essential skills individually, as part of a team, and as team leader.
